How Do I - Log In

You can log in to your GovTEAMS PROTECTED Dashboard or directly into Microsoft Teams Desktop App or Teams on the web.

Your GovTEAMS Dashboard brings together your profile, teams/communities, documents, and Microsoft 365 applications.

Microsoft Teams allows members to chat, have video meetings, and share files all in one place. It helps you work together easily, whether you're in the same office or working remotely. Please note not all communities will have Microsoft Teams enabled for their community. Visit our troubleshooting section for more information.

Everyone can access GovTEAMS PROTECTED via an iOS device. Access via desktop often provides a better experience. Contact your organisation administrators (select your name on your GovTEAMS PROTECTED Dashboard) to learn about the access options available to you.

Login to your GovTEAMS PROTECTED Dashboard:

  1. Go to the GovTEAMS website.
  2. Select Login.
  3. Select GovTEAMS PROTECTED.
  4. Select your GovTEAMS account (ending in @protected.govteams.gov.au). If it’s not listed select ‘Use Another account’ and enter your GovTEAMS username (ending in @protected.govteams.gov.au).
  5. If prompted, enter your password, and select Sign In.
  6. Verify your identity using one of the MFA options you selected when you registered your account.
    1. Microsoft Authenticator: enter the code displayed on your computer into the Microsoft Authenticator alert.
    2. Use a Verification code  – enter the code displayed in your authenticator app into the field shown on your computer.
    3. Text +XXXX – enter the code. You will receive an SMS with the code.
    4. Call XXX – You will receive a phone call. Following the instructions provided.

Login to Microsoft Teams – New Teams Desktop

This process works for the new Teams desktop app. Not all agencies allow access via the desktop app. Contact your organisation administrators (select your name on your GovTEAMS PROTECTED Dashboard) to learn about the access options available to you.

  1. Open Microsoft Teams desktop.
  2. If prompted, sign in with your GovTEAMS account.

    If were automatically signed in without prompting:

    1. Select your avatar/ initials.
    2. Select your GovTEAMS account. If it’s not displayed click the + button to add it.

Login to Microsoft Teams – Teams Classic and Teams on the Web

  1. Open Microsoft Teams on the web: https://teams.microsoft.com/ or the Microsoft Teams classic desktop app.
  2. If prompted, sign in with your GovTEAMS account (ending in @govteams.gov.au).

If you were automatically signed in without prompting:

    1. Select your avatar/ initials.
    2. Select Sign out
    3. Select the account you were logged in with.
    4. Teams will close, sign back in with your GovTEAMS account (ending in @protected.govteams.gov.au).
